IMPORTANT NEWS FOR ‘RENT’ TICKET HOLDERS

 Following the May 6 and 7 performances of “Rent” at the Bingen Theater a number of cast and band members tested positive for COVID-19. 

As a result, CGOA canceled the May 13,14 and 15 shows. 

 Additional shows have been added on Thursday, May 19 (7 p.m.) and Sunday, May 22 (2 p.m.). Ticket holders were offered ticket exchanges or refunds.

Audiences will be required to wear a mask for performances May 19-22.

 The Cast Talkbacks portions of the performances have been rescheduled for May 20 and 22. 

Lisa Mann show canceled at 64 Taphouse

The Lisa Mann show scheduled for May 18 at 64 Taphouse in Hood River has been canceled.

Bundy Band replaces Sam Chase Band for May 17 show at Ruins

It looks like a last-minute switch up happens at The Ruins in Hood River on Tuesday, May 17, with music from the Bundy Band (pictured) replacing last week’s announcement for Sam Chase Band. The Bundy Band specializes in “New Orleans style, Trad Jazz, funk and second-line brass band tunes.” Local Ben Bonham is still scheduled for the opener. 6 p.m. start. Ruins Tuesdays concerts are all ages and $3 until 7 p.m., then $8 and 21+ after.

Whiskey Flats Brass plays May 21

Join the Whiskey Flats Brass Band on Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. as they help the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Museum in Stevenson celebrate its 27th Anniversary. The authentic 1800s style band promises favorites like “Maggie by my Side,” and the “Houston Polka.” 

 ‘Spoob’ at MoCo May 24

It’s a mountain bike party and rock-meets-roots show on Tuesday, May 24, from 7-9 p.m. at Mosier Company in Mosier with the band Spoob - featuring members of Soulwolf, Greenneck Daredevils, Butternut Squatch, and others - promising to play music that will “leave you wanting more.”

The Lonesomes Duo at Clark and Lewie’s

Phil and Michael is the duo act known as The Lonesomes - expect original music and alt-country covers - playing at Clark and Lewie’s in Stevenson on Saturday, May 21, from 6-8 p.m.

 Pop Rocks at Mid Columbia Senior Center

MId-Columbia Senior Center in The Dalles presents a free benefit concert featuring The Pop Rocks on Tuesday, May 24, at 7 p.m. Pop Rocks is a local twelve-piece garage band playing fun, popping tunes with Special Guests: a local teenage banjo duet, and a violin group from Trout Lake, Washington. All donations will benefit the MId-Columbia Senior Center. For more information call the Mid-Columbia Senior Center at 541-296-4788.

Hidden Histories at History Museum

Join the History Museum of Hood River County on Thursday, May 19, at 7 p.m., for “Women in the West,” a lecture by Debby Chenoweth (pictured here in 1973), one of the first female park rangers in the U.S. “Between 1840-1910, hundreds of thousands of men and women moved to the west, building a new societal structure that redefined women’s roles. Based primarily on the book, New Women in the Old West, by Winifred Gallagher, Chenowith will discuss how women of diverse backgrounds advocated for their rights and became leaders in their communities, states and the nation.” This lecture is part of the Hidden Histories lecture series.

Granada Theater presents ‘Graduate’

Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft in “The Graduate.”

The Granada Theater in The Dalles presents the classic 1967 movie “The Graduate” on Friday and Saturday, May 21 and 22. Starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft, this picture rates in the top 20 movies of all time, according to the American Film Institute. Rated PG.

The Dalles Art Center presents author April Streeter, who will give a talk about the history of women in biking on Monday, May 16, at The Dalles Art Center, at 7 p.m. Streeter is the author of "Women on Wheels: The Scandalous Untold Histories of Women on Bicycles." Streeter is a freelance journalist currently at work on her first novel, a fairweather cyclist, and a bad knitter.

Discovery Center celebrates 25th Anniversary

Blues Show with Johnny Burgin May 27

It’s Rockin Chicago Blues with guitarist Johnny Burgin and Seattle Blues Harp player Joel Astley on Friday, May 27, 7-10 p.m. at The Pines Tasting Room in Hood River. Burgin is steeped in Chicago Blues and has played with legendary artists Pinetop Perkins and Paul DeLay and has worked on award-winning blues tribute recordings. Reports are coming in that the Red Carpet Inn in Hood River hosts Red Carpet Karaoke every Tuesday, starting at 8:30 p.m. Don’t worry if you get there late, the venue promises to keep the tunes rolling late into the night.

River City Saloon features The West Goats

Local band The West Goats are playing at the River City Saloon in Hood River every Thursday in May: May 5, 12, 19, and 26. Music starts at 7 p.m. and from the looks of things admission is free.

Seussical Jr. - The Musical at Civic in The Dalles continues

Support the local Civic Kids as they present Seussical Jr. as they take you through a staged musical of the well-known characters created by Dr. Seuss. Shows at The Dalles Civic Auditorium on May 13, 14, and 20, starting at 7 p.m. A 2 p.m. matinee is scheduled for May 22. at 7 p.m.

Vivace at The Civic May 16
